@aegean600 – 600 nautical miles around the Cyclades. ⛵🇬🇷
One of the most challenging offshore races in the Mediterranean. The route goes around the entire Cyclades, through the caldera of Santorini, to Rhodes, and back north to the finish.
We entered the race with an inexperienced crew and almost no joint training. Our main goal was not to fight for overall ranking, but to safely finish the race, not damage the boat, and gain as much experience as possible.
Conditions gave us everything – from complete calm to winds over 40 knots, countless sail changes, and minimal sleep. One crew member was sidelined by seasickness, another broke two ribs on the first day of the race. Yet we did not give up and fought to the end.
We set two goals for ourselves:
🥇 win in the Class40 category (this year two boats started),
🇨🇿 and become the fastest Czech boat in the race.
We managed to achieve both goals. However, we are not only taking home “victory,” but above all a huge amount of experience and, most importantly, a great experience from one of the most beautiful and challenging races in the Mediterranean.
