Diving for Lost Treasure: The Day My Wind Turbine Took a Plunge

#Tb to when I dropped my VERY EXPENSIVE wind turbine off the boat in Lisbon🫣⛵️

During the install I bumped it with my hip and down it went.. into the cold, murky marina water.. about 10 seconds later I stopped speaking French and decided that there was only one option… to go diving for it.

I cannot thank @deepzen enough for my free dive training. I dropped a line about 11m deep with a wrench tied to the bottom as a weight. Then followed it down because the visibility was so bad I never would have found the right spot otherwise.. 😂👊

After a minute of sifting through mud in the pitch black water I bumped into it! 😅

The next three days I spent cleaning every individual wire brush and slowly coaxing this little turbine back to life.

I tried it out for the first time on the day of my first solo crossing from Lisbon to the Canary Islands and was soooo happy to see that it works!!

Patience paid off! ⚡️🔋

When I said I wasn’t ready when I first started this adventure, this is part of it. The battery bank onboard is severely underpowered so I needed this to work haha But have faith and trust the process. Everything will work out in the end. And if it hasn’t yet worked out, then it’s not yet the end!
