You know that feeling, you’ve made a brake for the try line, all you have to
do is cover the distance and touchdown, then someone grabs you by the back
of the shorts. Well that was today. I really did think that I was going to
get caught up in high pressure opening up south of the Canaries. It was
hammer time, up with A2 and as fast as we could go. Nearly the whole day
adjusting the helm. Just got the A2 down now and a headsail up so I can have
a bit of sleep as the fun started around 02.00 am

Question from Global Solo Challenger Messaging Facility

I have received a couple of questions via the Global Solo Challenge
messaging facility that allows you to communicate a message to me on the
boat. I thought that if I pick up the questions and answer here then less
likelihood of repletion. Sarah Bacon, asked “Are you busy or just on one
tack all day” I could be on one tack all day and possibly 2 or 3 days or
more, however there are many other functions to stay on top to of keep me
and Bendigedig sailing to best of our performance and ability. I have been
working through a list of tweaks tat will help me when the weather gets a
lot more fruity. Typically, reorganising where things are stored; fixings
small leaks from deck fittings; setting up a proper preventer line etc Other
stuff that takes up your time is checking weather to make sure you try to
avoid both extremes of too much or too little. Managing the electrical power
and charging the batteries, i.e. moving the solar panel about. Eating,
sleeping and every now and again gazing at he stars

How’ your Tuesday going to Start

Mine started with a moonlit morning gybe. Sounds a bit like a dance of some
sort. A gybe in sailing is when you are sailing downwind, and you turn the
aft of the boat through the wind. Now heading due South hoping to stay in
the breeze. Looks likely to be on this gybe for 12 to 25 hrs, depends if the
wind has been reading the same instructions as I have, that is the GRIB
files. Which is not always the case. And now part 2 of my morning, a pot of
Curious Roo Barn Door blend and ach the moon for a bit Daf
