After 2 and half years of working on Bendigedig, resurrecting her from a deck and hull, to the start line of the first edition of the Global Solo Challenge 2023/24. There were times over the past 30 months that I thought I would not make it. Either too much to achieve or run out of funds. Without the help several generous individuals I definitely would not have made it.
At the start in A Coruna, I was amazed that some individuals had travelled from as far Germany to see me off. I got way from the pontoon at 14.20, actually 10 mins early and headed for the start line. I was the only starter, so I guess I can now claim a record that cn not be broken. First leader of the first Global Solo Challenge, sounds pretty cool to me.
The wind Gods have been very kind so far and I have got off to a half decent start. A mighty long way to go yet, but is very reassuring to get away nicely without any dramas.
I’ve been eating all the fresh items that were gifted me at the start line, one worth noting is, or should I say was a giant cake given to me by Martin, the guy who came from Germany
