International Rescue has my Email Fixed

Over the past 2 or 3 days, Marco an Italian currently on Spain, Matt from PredictWind in New Zealand and myself a Welshman on the ocean have worked together and have fixed the problem I had receiving any email. I could send but nothing coming through t my inbox. You cant imagine how hard it is when the guy with least IT experience is on the boat and can only get instruction on a bad satellite phone connection. Anyhow with perseverance and patience we have manged a fix. What a relief for me. Now I can get feedback from the shore, important for my morale and definitely keeps you going
I’m now more or less level with the top of Africa

Looking across my chart plotter I see that I’m now more or less level, with the top of Africa, no wonder its getting warm on the boat. The thought that crossed my mind was what tales will I have to tell when I’m level with the bottom of Africa, who knows. To date I haven’t seen much wild life out here, did not want to say too much too soon just in case the orcas came for a visit. Only dolphins to date, and they gave me a scare when I first spotted a dorsal fin.

Power Positive From Wind and Solar

I’m currently producing excess electricity from wind and solar, not only do I have enough to keep the boat systems going I have a bit surplus to top up the batteries. This is very good news as I’m a little tight on the amount of fuel for keeping the batteries charged without wind and solar. In the GSC Regs we are limited to 300 ltrs, and I started with 300 ltrs. So far I’ve run the engine for 2.5 hrs total. So early indications are that with solar being predominant in the Tropics fuel should last without drastic cut backs in consumers. One of the most electric hungry bits of kit is the autohelm, which is currently working pretty hard as we are going downwind.

A fairly busy night, gybed to get back towards the stronger breeze, trying to get as much South as possible into my course. Looking a bit more hopeful for more sunshine today.
