Setting Sail for New Adventures: A Journey from Malta to Lanzarote
READY FOR THE NEXT MILES. ⛵️🌊🪢 The next part of the season is ahead of me. And the most important one. We are heading to Malta, where we will fight for the best possible placement in the Class40 at the Rolex Middle Sea Race. 🔥 Then we’ll head to Croatia for Jabuka, and from that moment everything will be geared towards the next big goal – the RORC Transatlantic Race, which we’ll start in January from Lanzarote. Thousands of miles await us, training, races, and lots of work on Moonpalace. I’m very glad that on board I can rely on the great ropes from @lanex.yachting and mainly that I have a partner behind me who provides great support. Thank you! 🙏 Ready for the next miles! 💪⛵️ 📸 @luciecanovova_photography #LanexYachting #Moonpalace #Class40 #RolexMiddleSeaRace #offshoresailing @globalsolochallenge 2027 💪 Follow Michal Krysta on Instagram 👉 @michalkrysta
Voyage to Cape Horn and Beyond: Seeking Support for a Sailing Dream
VOYAGE TO CAPE HORN ⛵️🌊 I need your help! 🙏 In one month I am setting off to sail the stormiest passage on the planet: ⛵️🌊 12,000 miles from Tonga to Cape Horn (Patagonia) then up to Europe. 🌎 But this is just the start… Once in Europe I’ll be preparing my boat for the Global Solo Challenge, a solo non-stop sailing circumnavigation of the world, where I won’t touch land for 6 months. @globalsolochallenge Many of the other sailors in this race are working with million dollar budgets and big sponsors, but everything I’ve done so far has been with my savings from the last 6 years of work as a professional captain. But it takes a lot to prepare for a voyage like this, and when we’re literally talking about survival, it’s not cheap. I need to raise $11,350 to buy the necessary gear for Penelope and I to survive this voyage to Cape Horn and make it to the GSC start line.. but I can’t do it without your help 🙏 If everyone donates $1 we could do some incredible stuff, and for those that want to support more, let me know what I could offer in
Sailing with a Legend: My Inspiring Day with Pip Hare
Sailing with Pip Hare today and honestly, still processing it!! Pip is one of a very small handful of sailors who’ve raced solo non-stop around the world in the Vendée Globe. She’s also one of the people I’ve looked up to for years. She built her campaign her own way, on her own terms, and proved you don’t need a massive budget to do the impossible. Sound familiar? 😜 There is no faster way to grow as a sailor than to spend time on the water with people who’ve already been where you’re trying to go Massive thank you to Pip for the time and the wisdom 🙏 #piphare #globalsolochallenge #vendéeglobe #sailing _ _ _ _ _ I’m attempting to become the first Zimbabwean and the first person from a landlocked African nation to sail solo, non-stop around the world in the @globalsolochallenge 2027. Through Notes on a Boat, you can donate £10.30 (or more) and leave a message that I’ll carry around the world aboard Shamwari. Your note will travel in a waterproof canister and appear on the live race tracker once the journey begins. Comment ZIMBO to leave your note, donate or explore sponsorship opportunities. Sailing on Penelope: Embracing the 30kts Winds and Waves
Day 9 🌊⛵️ The wind is up! It’s been blowing about 30kts for the last 3 days straight with a pretty good size swell from the south. Life is good, this is what Penelope was built for, we’re sailing fast, averaging 7.5-8kts. These are my last few days offshore before I go in for refit to fix Penelope in the yard for the next month. We’ve got A LOT to do so if you haven’t yet, please consider donating to help make the #VoyagetoCapeHorn happen 🙏⛵️🌎 Link in my bio! #solosailing #offshoresailing Follow Noa on Instagram 👉 @noathewhale
“Preparing Moonpalace for the Ultimate Offshore Test”
No chit-chat, just hard work! 💪⛵️ Moonpalace 🌕 is getting another upgrade before the next part of the season. This time, it’s time to replace the ropes and fine-tune the existing setup. Huge thanks to @lanex.yachting and Vojta Eliáš for the materials that allow me to push the equipment further. 🙌 And the endurance test? It will come without compromise. First an offshore move from Greece to Malta and then one of the highlights of this season – the Rolex Middle Sea Race. 🇬🇷➡️🇲🇹🔥 Now all that’s left is to prepare everything, test it, and set off. 🌊 #class40 #lanex #ropes #offshoresailing #ropework Follow Michal Krysta on Instagram 👉 @michalkrysta

Invert the order: sail before graduating
We have a system that maybe we’ve understood backwards. We get a title so we can navigate, when navigating should be part of the route to obtain that title. Because passing an exam gives you a qualification. Experience, safety, and judgement at sea are gained by sailing. My order would be different: first sail, learn, and make mistakes. Then, the title. What do you think? We continue. Maybe we’ve got the system backwards. We get a licence so we can sail, when sailing should be part of the journey towards getting that licence. Passing an exam gives you a qualification. Experience, safety and judgement at sea come from actually sailing. I’d reverse the order: sail first, learn and make mistakes. Then get the licence. Next year I’ll miss the seventh edition of Barco Inclusivo. My excuse is a bit weak: I hope to be setting off from Vigo to sail around the world. 😅 We continue. Final Touch-Ups Before the Autumn Sailing Season
Final repairs before the autumn part of the season ⛵️🔧 The biggest challenge this time was tightening and fixing the loosened mainsail sheet traveler. The problem wasn’t so much in the repair itself, but rather that access to it is through one of the narrowest spots at the stern of Moonpalace. On a Class40, every centimeter is simply utilized, and some “simple” repairs quickly turn into a small acrobatic feat. Moonpalace is slowly getting ready for the next part of the season. 🌊⛵️ #class40 #globalsolochallenge #offshoresailing #singlehanded #moonpalace Follow Michal Krysta on Instagram 👉 @michalkrysta
Safe Harbor Before the Storm: A Sailing Adventure from Newport to Connecticut
Incredible delivery a week ago from Newport to Connecticut with @hrichardsson43 to position Koloa Maoli in a safe spot before the big Nor’Easter that largely shut down a lot of the east coast for a week. Fittingly, the last full day of summer was an all day ripper of a sail. With the boat in a super safe spot, I hunkered down for the storm in Maine, where we actually got some fun surf and also breeze off the storm! We now return to our regularly scheduled programming, thanks again to my friends at Pequot Yacht Club in Connecticut for their aloha in keeping an eye on the boat and setting us up with a good mooring. #sailing #noreaster #wind #storm #northeast Follow Ronald A Simpson on Instagram 👉 @ronniesimpsonracing
